Best of Britain On-Line Cookbook

Shephard's Pie

 

Ingredients:

600g Potatoes, Peeled and Halved

1 tbsp Sunflower Oil

1 Onion, Finely Chopped

225g Lamb Mince

1 tbsp Princes Tomato Puree

1 tbsp Lea + Perrins Worchestershire Sauce

300ml Lamb Stock

1 tsp Mixed Dried Herbs

200g Heinz Baked Beans

Salt and Pepper

Preparation:

  1. Cook and mash potatoes.
  2. Pre-heat oven to 400°F.
  3. Heat the oil in a pan and add the onion and cook until soft. Add the lamb and cook until brown, then add all other ingredients. Cook for 15-20 minutes until thickened. Season.
  4. Place the mixture in an overproof dish, then top with mashed potatos. Lightly fork the top.
  5. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with peas + carrots.
